Ken Duken × Freiheit
Commercial · CUPRA
Commercial for CUPRA — a short piece on freedom, carried by the actor Ken Duken.
A brief cinematic thought on freedom — told together with actor Ken Duken for CUPRA.
The film sees itself less as a classical automotive spot and more as an atmospheric road movie in miniature form. It is not about presenting a car, but about making a feeling visible: the longing for vastness, for stillness, for movement and for a brief moment in which the world becomes quiet enough to arrive at yourself again.
Shot between coastal roads, dunes, empty asphalt and low-standing sun, a personal, almost melancholic visual language emerges. The car remains part of the journey — never an end in itself. Far more important are light, wind, distance and the quiet moments in between.
Direction and camera were deliberately kept in one pair of hands, so that the film could come into being as intuitively and as close to the mood as possible. Many scenes grew directly out of the location, the weather and the feeling of the moment — more like a poetic short film than a classical commercial production.
Max Tsui and Ken Duken had already worked together before. For this project, Ken Duken explicitly insisted on bringing Max Tsui on board — a creative trust that decisively shaped the film’s very personal and immediate atmosphere.
