About
Giving stories room.
As a Director, Cinematographer and AI Storyteller I have been making images for film, television and advertising for nearly two decades. In parallel, together with the Cologne agency eye2eye GmbH, I develop new forms of visual storytelling with generative image tools.
Born in Munich in 1979, raised between two cultures. German in everyday life; Chinese in the stories, gestures and memories of my family.
I studied cinematography with a focus on film at Fachhochschule Dortmund. A few pieces from that time received awards — a nice confirmation, but above all a reminder that every new image has to find its own justification.
I have been lucky to work with directors and creatives who hold a clear position towards images. Trust plays a big part in that; more important to me, though, is a shared cinematic language. Films rarely come into being alone — they come into being where people start to feel the same stories.
We shoot where the story demands it. Sometimes that is the city next door. Sometimes a place I first had to find on a map.
At eye2eye I think hard about what generative image tools are actually changing. Which images suddenly become possible. Which ideas can be made visible for the first time. And how cinematic storytelling continues to evolve when imagination is no longer bound to production alone.
